Bently's Great Escape

An author of a children’s book approached me to help create a children’s book featuring a dog named Bently. I worked in conjunction with another illustrator in order to create this book.

Step 1:

To begin, the author sent over the rough sketches the other illustrator created. From there, I started cleaning up and digitizing the sketches.

Step 2:

After getting the sketches, I wanted to narrow down the style of art for this book. I tried a watercolor style, a soft shading style, and a more bold cell shaded version. The author chose the cell shading style.

Final

I was able to communicate with the artist consistently and even added specific details such as the pair of needlepointed pillows that the author had stitched herself.
